3. The Theme Of The Mad Trapper • There really is no theme to the Mad trapper because this is a book that explains actual events that took part in the 1930’s. Albert Johnson a mysterious man who floated in to Fort. McPherson N.W.T with at least 2000 dollars in bills. He was known to no one and spoke little. He built a cabin on the Rat River and made a trap line. He disrupted another mans trap line which resulted in a visit from the R.C.M.P in which a officer was shot. Then the greatest man hunt in Canadian history began.

4. Albert Johnson Albert Johnson is the main character in the novel the mad trapper by Rudy Wiebe. This is a story that is based on the event that took place in the province of North West Territories. Albert Johnson was a small broad shouldered man who defied odds. He is one of the only men to ever survive being blown up and also is one of the few people to ever climb the Richardson mountains let alone with no climbing gear! Albert Johnson was a trapper who spent all of his winters alone no contact with anyone. Albert Johnson was a quiet but volatile man who went down in history as the most well known criminal in all of Canadian history.

5. Edgar "Spike" Millen Constable Edgar Millen was the chief officer placed in Fort McPherson N.W.T. He was the officer that led the manhunt for Albert Johnson. He was a humane young R.C.M.P officer who was at first reluctant to take up the cold pursuit, but he ended up driven with a relentless obsession. He was the last person to be shot by Albert but Edgar fired the fatal shot to end Albert's life.

6. W.R. "Wop" May Wop May was an ex R.A.F pilot from the first world. He was an influential pilot who was third to Billy Bishop in kills in Canadian history. Wop May was the pilot who along with Edgar Millen spotted the trial that Albert Johnson had taken at the base of the Richardson mountains. From that point Edgar Millen followed the trail that led to the final shootout in which Wop May recorded from the sky.

7. The actors I would portray as the characters in Rudy Wiebe’s Mad Trapper would be the following…..

8. Gerard Butler would play Albert Johnson. He would portray him because he would exemplify the how much determination that Albert shown throughout the man hunt. Gerard would play this role to the fullest and come out to people as the mad trapper. He would carry-out the role as the rugged quiet man that has nothing to lose. Gerard would make you feel like you knew the mad trapper.

9. Mark Wahlberg would play Edgar Millen in the movie. He would be the perfect fit for Edgar because in the story Edgar is the hero of the man hunt. Mark would play this role because in his movies he always play the hero, and he gives you that feeling of he is the man people look up to.

10. Chuck Norris would play the pilot Wop May in the movie. He is a kind character that nobody would mess with. He would play this role because he would stand strong to his word. In the movie Wop stands up to the R.C.M.P because they want to fly but Wop refuses and looks at the safety of his plane.

12. Plot In the story of the Mad Trapper the climax would have been the shootout on Eagle River. This is where the final battle between Albert Johnson and Edgar Millen had taken place. The battle ended here came up showing that the two main characters were dead by there fire at each other. If something different happened in my mind I would have had Edgar Millen ended up surviving this battle. He still was the hero but if he’d of lived he would have been the nations hero for a long time.

13. Conflict The conflict of the story would have been when the R.C.M.P brought TNT to blow up Albert’s cabin. This conflict ended up with Albert’s cabin being blown up and one of the officers ended up dead. Albert lived through the blast but escaped the clutches of the officers. This conflict could have been resolved if they would have entered the house quickly and had all of the sides of the covered all sides of the cabin. They would have had him they were prepared better but the story would haveended up not told. Albert Johnson would have died as a old man in jail.

14. Writing Style • “He dived steeply, tilted, shrieking down towards the river in a power dive and the body and broad pack there on the glaring snow, and just as he came down alongside a face and a rifle twisted around… up.. and fired . The author described the how Wop may and his co pilot flown down to the river to recover the body when all of a sudden it moved and fired on them. (p.185) • “Okay, now spread out, wide, wide.. That grey pack, and shoot to kill.” The author described this as only as if you were there amoung then men beginning to fire on Albert. He showed it as good as possible to keep the reader wanting more. (p.185) • “I am making sure. Absolutely sure.” In this sentence the author tells us maybe Albert is dead or if he ready to go another round of fighting. Although he gives and ending right there that he is dead. (p.186) • “But Johnson did not move. Even with Eames stood with his cocked rifle muzzle three feet form his head.” In that sentence the author gives us closure that he is finally dead and that the man hunt is over.(p.187) • “Go get Spike, he muttered between his teeth”. In that sequence we get a bad feeling that we may have lost our hero of the story. The author has maybe told us grim news even with the bad guy dead all was lost. (p.187)
