  1. We’re GLAD you’re here! The presentation will begin in just a few minutes.

  2. Welcome toSabbath School! Our LESSON today is . . .

  3. The“Seventy Weeks” ofDaniel 9

  4. Probationary Time

  5. Daniel 8 & Daniel 9 are so • intimately connected as to form virtually a SINGLEchapter. • They both contain prophecies of such VITAL, earth-shaking importance • that Godpersonally and re- peatedly sent the Angel Gabrielto deliver them to Daniel.

  6. The angel Gabriel told Daniel the Messiah was to be “CUT OFF” (killed) “in the MIDST of the week.”

  7. Jesus was CRUCIFIED in A.D. 31, in the very middle of the 70th or Final Week.

  8. Decree to rebuildJerusalem Baptism of Jesus Investigativejudgment begins Gospelto theGentiles Jerusalemrebuilt

  9. You could say that . . . God set a DATE for the Judgment!

  10. 2300 Days / Years 70 weeks / 490 years 70 weeks / 490 years 70 weeks / 490 years

  11. The Day of Atonement • was the most solemn day of the year for all Israelites, • and still IS the holiest day for all practicing Jews. • On the Jewish calendar, it always falls on the 10th day of the 7th month(Tishri).

  12. In the Hebrew language,“the Day of Atonement” • is Yom Kippur, pronounced • in English, “yomm-KIP-per” • in Hebrew, “yohm-kip-POOR” • It is a Day of JUDGMENT, • a day of fastingand prayer for the atonement of sins.

  13. Hebrews 9:6-7, NLT, tells us: • “The priests went in and out of the first room [ the Holy Place ] • REGULARLY as they performed their religious duties. • But ONLYthe High Priest goes into the MOST Holy Place, • and ONLY ONCE a year, and always with blood, which he offers to God. . . .”

  17. The TIMING of both the Earthlyand the Heavenly Sanctuaries • followed the SAME pattern: • The Earthly Sanctuary had sacrifices on a DAILY basis. • Then it was CLEANSED on the Day of Atonement, • at the END of the ritual year.

  18. The TIMING of both the Earthlyand the Heavenly Sanctuaries • followed the SAME pattern: • The Heavenly Sanctuary, too, was correspondingly “CLEANSED” (see Hebrews 9:23, NKJV & NASB) • at “the time of the END” (see Daniel 8:14 & 17, KJV & NKJV).

  19. We need to broaden our under-standing of “the Judgment.” • In many people’s minds, theFinal Judgment of God • is a single event taking place in an instant of time. • And of course God, with His divine foreknowledge, COULD determine everyone’s fate ina fraction of a second!

  20. Keep in mind that . . . • Even in HUMAN legal proceedings, • a case is NOT disposed of in a FLASH! • In so serious a matter, there are several STAGES or PHASES to the whole judicial PROCESS.

  21. Stage One: • There is, first of all, an investigation of all pertinent facts we call a TRIAL.

  22. Stage Two: • There is then the rendering of a deliberate DECISION —guilty or not guilty— we call a VERDICT.
