Innovative Rehabilitation at Home with FITREHAB: Expert Planning and Telemedicine Solutions

The FITREHAB project enhances at-home rehabilitation through expert planning, prescription, and telemedicine. With an increasing demand for home rehabilitation, particularly for neurological and cardiovascular recovery, FITREHAB integrates smart garments and virtual reality to support patients during their long rehabilitation journeys. In collaboration with healthcare professionals, the project will identify critical challenges and provide policy recommendations while testing the platform in the Netherlands and Estonia.   2. The need of rehabilitation at home is dramatically increasing especially in the developed countries. A long rehabilitation period is required to recover after discharge from the hospital after acute episode, either neurological or cardiovascular. Elderly people are expected to increase of 5% in the next few years and exercising at home is required to maintain good health. However rehabilitation is costly and drop out from treatment is frequent. We believe that technology is mature to help clinicians and patients in prolonged rehabilitation and FITREHAB practically explores this possibility. Specifications of protocols and modality of use will be defined inside a strict cooperation between doctors, therapists, psychologists and technicians. A pilot test of the platform will be carried out in: De Wever foundation (The Netherlands) Viljiandi hospital foundation (Estonia) MAIN GOAL OF THE PROJECT Identification of criticalities in the platform and in the methodology and definition of policy recommendation guidelines to the member regions of the project.
