  3. Mission Statement • The purpose of P.L.H.H. is to raise the awareness of community needs and social issues that surround us, to develop leadership skills, to break down walls that have been built by stereotypes and preconceived notions, to promote change, and to encourage others to take the first step in Lending a Helping Hand.

  4. What We Have Developed As A Class • As a class, we have created an email address lendahelpinghandproject@gmail.com. This email address will be used only for contacting different organizations for volunteer jobs and questions. • We have also created a Project Lend A Helping Hand Blog Spot www.projectlendahelpinghand.blogspot.com for the purpose of networking and communicating.

  5. Proposed Plans • We are planning on having a movie night for seventh and eighth graders before the end of November. • Have a carnival. • Host an Easter Egg Hunt. • Create a lemonade stand/juice stand. • Organize a Walk-A-Thon for the Spring • Have a Student-Teacher Danceoff.

  6. Fundraiser Ideas Ideas we can use to raise money. • Scary Movie Night • Customized rubber bracelets • Carnival • Lemonade Stand (Juice Stand) • Dance Marathon • Talent Show • Easter egg hunt in school • Easter Egg Painting • Teacher Student Dance-Off at school dances

  7. Community Out Reach Activity Ideas • We can volunteer to walk dogs at any open animal shelters in New York City. It is a way that we can help homeless dogs feel better. • We can read to blind or vision impaired children in hospitals. • We can make send packages to soldiers. • We can read to lower grades at another school during Read Across America. • We can visit a foster home.

  8. Events Planned • A movie night November 4th • A Thanksgiving dinner • A Christmas surprise gift booth • A dance of the 50’s or 60’s • A Valentine’s dance • A secret admire Valentine booth

  9. Movie Night Proposal • A Halloween Movie Night For 7th and 8th graders from 6:00 pm to 8:00 on November 4th. • Snacks will be served for $1-2. • Entrance fee will be $5 • All money goes to charity.

  10. The movie Insidious

  11. Movie • The movie will be Insidious. • A gripping story of a family in search of help for their son, Dalton, who fell into a mysterious coma on one ordinary morning. Little do they know that there is much more to this endless sleep than meets the eye as they explore the paranormal, and rediscover the past; the key to getting their son back once and for all.  • PG13 • Some students in this class have seen insidious and said there were no sexual contact and very few use of profanity.

  12. Snacks • Kool- Aid pouch - $1 • Fruit Snacks- 2 for a $1 • Popcorn- $2 for one Ziploc bag • Candy/Chocolate bars- $1 • There would be two students from the treasurer committee at the concession stand

  13. Entrance Fee • The entrance fee will be $5 • We believe this is a reasonable price because it is not too much but it would be enough to make a good profit. • According to our calculations, if 5 whole classes attend the event we would make approximately $500.

  14. Treasurer Outlook Our overall goal for each fundraiser we have or hold is $500. School funds 15% Supplies 25% Charities 60% Amanda, Mubtasim,Eric
