GMB Young Workers Engagement Project aims to support GMB workplaces in developing quality schemes and enhancing opportunities for existing staff. This project is funded by DBEIS and aims to place employers at the heart of their own apprenticeship schemes, particularly benefiting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

GMB and the Learning Agenda • The GMB has long regarded training and development as a Union issue • Our project is Midlands & East Coast regions solution to the Government agenda • The project is Funded by DBEIS (Government) through to Union Learning Fund (Unionlearn/TUC) Opportunity Growth Support Learning Qualifications

Project Mission Statement GMB YWEP Mission • To support GMB workplaces in developing qualityschemes • Enhancing and improving development opportunities for existing staff YWEP Vision • To place employers at the heart of their own apprenticeship scheme so that they are more responsive to the needs of the business YWEP Values • To provide young people with sustainable employment- particularly those form disadvantaged backgrounds Opportunity Growth Support Learning Qualifications

Quality Benchmarks Learning Agreements - Set of standards agreed between the union and employer to support employees in their development (As per the ACAS Code of Practice) Union Learning Reps - The role of the Union Learning Rep is to advocate and signpost people to lifelong learning opportunities MoU’s - To design, develop and deliver bespoke learning programmes (not ‘off the shelf’ packages) with providers Health & Safety Inductions – Ensuring that young people receive quality instruction, training and supervision (coaching/mentoring) Opportunity Growth Support Learning Qualifications
