Iceland Introduction • Language – Icelandic, however English is widely spoken and it is to be expected that all business transactions will be carried out in English. • Dress – Formal business attire. • Taboos - Non-smoking areas should be respected and it is inadvisable to smoke during meetings, even if other people in the room are doing so. Meetings • Appointments – To be made in advance and times stated using the 24-hour clock. Punctuality is essential. • Greetings - Shake hands with all those present followed by an exchange of business cards. • Communication style - Do not be surprised by straight talking, it is normal practice to be direct. • Be prepared - Presentations should be precise and concrete and you should not make any promises that you cannot keep.
