  1. Competitive Summer Season Week of April 16 U9/U10 – 1v1 Attacking

When you get there • Session will be Play (until you have 8 players) – 11+ Warm-up (8 minutes) – Work (35 minutes) – Play (8 minutes) • Take attendance • Play to start once you have 8 players begin session • Take time to teach 11+ which will slow us down a bit but it is important to show movements • Some groups you will need to provide the energy so be prepared with a few silly things mixed in but get back to business ASAP

  5. Play – To Goal Split the players onto two teams Play 3v3 to start and play no larger then 5v5 with a few subs if necessary. Make sure to adjust the field a little more space is better then too small Have a pile of balls near each end line when you run out of balls go collect Goals are scored passing thru cone goal KEYS Look for opportunities to shoot Can players shoot on the move?

Activity 1 – Dribbling Gates Every player on a ball Players will have short rounds to dribble thru as many gates as possible have 2 more gates then players Challenge players with different ways to get thru or interact with gate Dribble thru Dribble thru and pull back Make move thru gate Have players keep score and keep it self referenced Beat your own score by two, three, x KEYS Be quick How do have to dribble the ball if you want to be fast Body shape players must stay low and be explosive

Activity 2 – Pick and Play 2 Teams keep score Not so good team has quick fun penalty Ball gets played out and players need to get to the ball and then pick goal to attack Once on balldecides goal they are attacking the other player is going in the other direction Ball goes out of play switch players in middle Play quickly KEYS Explode to the ball With first touch can play get ball moving towards the goal they are going to attack Read the game – if you can’t win ball what angle do you need to take to cut the attacker off Once attacker has ball and can they dribble across defender to get them on their back

  8. Activity 3 – Play Split the players onto two teams Play 3v3 to start and play no larger then 5v5 with a few subs if necessary. U9/U10 Week of April 16 – 1v1 Attack Play • 3v3 up to 5v5 • Central Goal • Mentality • Relate to theme of the day 11+ • Once you have 8 players begin formal WU • Not a race • Focus on proper movement Activity 1 – Dribbling thru Gates • Every play on a ball • Players need to dribble thru gates to score • Play short rounds – vary how players have to go thru gates • Type of dribbling when you are trying to cover ground quickly • Surface choice to use • Does last touch in one gate get them to next Activity 2– Pick and Play • Play 1v1 to goal • Ball gets played out by coach or team • First player to ball picks goal to attack; other player attacks other goal • Ball out of play next 2 players play • Quick reaction to passed ball • Decision on which goal to attack • 1sttouch towards goal • Be specific to player Play • 3v3 up to 5v5 with subs if necessary • Effort • Team attacks/team defends • - Decisions - Ownership - Technique - Attacking - Standards - Enjoyment The Woodbury Way
