  6. Basic Reasons for Marriage… • Partnership (Ecclesiastes 4:9- 12), • Procreation (Genesis 1:28), • Pleasure (Proverbs 5:15-20), • Purity (1 Corinthians 7:2), • Power (Deuteronomy32:30), • Protection (Proverbs 31:11,12) • Progress (Proverbs 31:13-29).

The picture of of a godly wife • Submission to her husband as to the Lord (Ephesians 5:22; Colossians 3:18) • Respects her husband as an example for the children to follow (Ephesians 5:33) • Sober, maintaining discipline among the children and ensures that they have the fear of God(Titus 2:4-5) • Love for her husband and the children (Titus 2:4) • Be an example of obedience and faith in God (1 Peter 3:1; 1Tim. 2:15; Titus 2:5) • Hard work and industry (Proverbs 31:10-31)

The picture of of a godly husband • Must love, cherish and nourish his wife as Christ loved the Church (Colossians 3:19) • Be a good administrator and example for the family (1 Tim. 3:4) • Should not provoke his children to wrath and honour his wife before others (Eph. 6:4; 1 Peter 3:7) • Hardworker, diligent and provides adequately for the family (1 Tim. 5:8) • Blameless, hospitable and possess knowledge and wisdom to take decisions aright (Tit. 1:6-8) • A good listener and communicator (Eph. 6:4)
