  2. Jonas • In the book it mentions many supporting details of the religious and moral beliefs in The Giver. Here are a few examples for Jonas. • Ceremony’s (Mainly when he becomes the Receiver of Memories.) • Pale Eyes (When a person has pale eyes, they usually become the reviever) • Capacity to See Beyond ( Jonas has an ability to see the momories of everything) • Rules (Every Dwelling must follow certain rules. 3 rules disobeyed and you are released.)

  3. Lily - This is an example of religious and moral beliefs for Lily. • Comfort Object(Every person until 8, has a comfort object. Lily’s was an Elephant) • Bicycle ( When a person becomes a 9, they get a bicycle. Lily wants a bicycle.) - 1’s-12’s ( Every Newborn goes through the years 1-12. Ages through ceremonies.) - Family Unit (Every Person belongs to a family unit. Lily is in a family unit.)

  4. Fiona These are the religious/moral beliefs for Fiona. • House of the Old (Old people in the community belong to the house of the old.) • Love ( Love is a forbidden word that no on uses. Jonas loves Fiona.) • Assignments (Every Person revieves an assignment, Fiona’s was Caretaker of the old.) • Community (All the characters in the book are in the community. Fiona is in the community.)

  5. Asher This is an example of Moral Beliefs for Asher. • Instructor of 3’s (If you say a word wrong you get smacked. Asher said Smack.) • Recreation (Kids until 12 can play after school hours.) • School (All kids must attend school.)

  6. The Giver These are example of Moral Beliefs for the Giver. • Capacity to Hear Beyond ( The Giver has the capacity to hear beyond.) • Wisdom (The Giver and Jonas have to potential to have wisdom.) • Climate Control (The Giver and Jonas are the only one to know about climate control.) • Honor (The Giver and Jonas have great honor.)
