  1. Science Using SAM-Grid

  2. The Science Experiments have begun utilizing the technologies provided by SAM-Grid to aid in the production of real scientific results in the quest to further understand our universe.

  3. CDF • Currently testing SAM-Grid • For user analysis • For Monte Carlo Production • 17 SAM Stations on and offsite • Several more planned for remote installation

  4. D0 – W Boson Pair Production • Allows us to test the structure of the standard model of particle physics • 25 candidate events observed • Good agreement with theoretical predictions First observation of W boson pair production in proton-antiproton collisions

  5. D0 - Reconstruction • Improved resolution in J/Ψ resonances. • Important in detector calibration and B physics studies. Improved detection of signal of the Λb decaying to Λand J/Ψ. Important in understanding current theoretical predictions of lifetimes of B baryon compared with B mesons.

  6. D0 – Rare & Beautiful Decays • Bs particle decays are rare • Data shows decays of several particles but not Bs • Rules out many theoretical models predicting particles that would result in a rate larger than we observe in our data                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      < font>

  7. MINOS • Preparing to use SAM-Grid • Have two test SAM stations on Linux PCs • Plan to deploy 2 stations initially in production • Can access files in AFS space. • One station will be configured to read those files • Can then sort file list first • SAM has been interfaced to the MINOS offline framework which uses ROOT • Deployment offsite (of Fermilab) is being worked on
