High Growth Job Training Initiative Grant Goals • Educate potential workers for the energy industry in the areas of electric line construction, power plant technology and natural gas technology • Achieve goals through continued partnership with utilities, Ivy Tech, Work One and other stakeholders

  3. Description • This project is designed to prepare students to meet the workforce needs of Indiana’s energy industry in high demand jobs, particularly where turnover is expected to be up to 50% within the next 5 to 10 years, through coursework at Ivy Tech Community College.

  4. HGJTI Programs of Study • Concentrations within the Industrial Technology program for: • Electric Line Construction • Power Plant Technology • Natural Gas Technology • Career Development Certificates and Associate of Applied Science degrees

  5. Resources • Indiana Energy Consortium (IEC) Statewide partnership which laid foundation for project and provides planning, in-kind and monetary resources and other guidance for the achievement of project goals • Regional Advisory Boards Local groups made up of IEC members and other local stakeholders to help provide guidance to Ivy Tech campuses on the regional level

Sustainable Energy Degree • Ivy Tech Region 4, Lafayette • 2 year Associate of Applied Science degree • Designed to educate skilled technicians to implement sustainable energy systems • Program graduates will support installation, analysis, operations and maintenance of sustainable energy systems • Concentrations are in Wind Energy Technology, Renewable Energy Systems Technology and Home Technology Integration/Energy Auditing. Certificates also available

  7. Alternative Fuel Technician Degree Concentration • Ivy Tech Regions 4 & 6, Muncie and Kokomo • Associate of Applied Science degree and Technical Certificates available • Designed to give an alternative fuel technician a broad knowledge base of vehicle maintenance and repair • Graduates will know traditional and alternative fuel systems
