  5. Graduation Requirements • 24 Total Credits • Passing scores on the 10th grade FSA Reading and Algebra 1 EOC • Minimum unweighted GPA of 2.0

  6. Graduation Requirements • 4 English Credits • 4 Math Credits • Must include Algebra 1 and Geometry • 3 Science Credits • Must include Biology • 3 Social Studies Credits • Must include World History, US History, and Government/Economics • 1 HOPE Credit (Health/PE) • 1 Performing/Practical Arts Credit • 8 Elective Credits • 1 Virtual Online Course • 24 credits total; minimum 2.0 unweighted GPA

  7. Assessment Requirements • Students must pass the Algebra 1 EOC. • Students must pass the English Language Arts Grade 10 FSA • ELA FSA Scale Score of 350 or higher • 10th grade is the benchmark year • Passing score increases from 8th (337) to 9th (343) to 10th (350)

  8. Concordant Scores • Students who don’t pass the Algebra 1 EOC can earn a comparative score: • 430 PSAT Math • 420 SAT Math • 16 ACT Math • Students who don’t pass the 10th grade FSA ELA can earn a concordant score: • 480 SAT Evidence Based Reading and Writing • Average of 18 ACT English and Reading

  9. Virtual Course Requirement • Within the 24 credits required for graduation, students must complete one course online • Students must finish the complete course online • One semester of a half credit course or • Two semesters of a whole credit course • One semester of a whole credit course does not meet the online course requirement

Community Service • Students can begin completing community service hours the summer after completion of their 8th grade year. • Students must complete a proposal prior to starting their community service project. All proposals must be pre-approved. • List of volunteer sites is available on the Hillsborough County Schools website. Local opportunities will be posted on the Bloomingdale Guidance website.

  11. Community Service • Community Service Proposal and Hour Log Sheet are available on the Bloomingdale Guidance Website. • Community service is not required for graduation, but is required to qualify for the Bright Futures Scholarships.

  23. AVID Expectations • Students enrolled in AVID are expected to: • Take rigorous Honors and AP classes • Actively participate in tutorials • Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA • Prepare for college – research, test taking, essays, and applications

Registration Coming from a private school • A parent or legal guardian must bring the documents listed below to the registration: • Physical examination within the last 12 months • Birth Certificate/Social Security Card • Immunization records (on Florida Department of Health form) • Most recent report card or copy of transcript from the last school • 2 proofs of address verification: • Homestead Exemption • Lease Agreement • Property Tax Receipt • Current Electric Bill • Contract of Purchase of Home • Warranty Dead • Pick up a registration packet and programming sheet • Call Ms. Bass, Guidance Secretary, to set up a registration appointment at 744-8018 X235

Freshman Focus • Tips and tricks for incoming 9th graders: • Use a planner to keep track of important dates and deadlines. • Develop an organizational system to keep track of notes, handouts, and assignments • Use spare time wisely • Utilize Edsby to keep track of grades • Start strong – it’s easier to keep a good GPA than to fix a bad GPA • Get involved in extracurricular activities, clubs, sports, and community service • Attend tutoring if you need help – don’t wait until the end of the quarter/semester • Get a good night’s sleep
