BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts • Two year qualification equivalent to four GCSE’s at grades A*-C. • The course provides work-related vocational training, across all Performing Arts disciplines. • This allows you to explore a wide variety of approaches to performance and the world of performing arts, building a range of skills and understanding in this area.

  3. Course structure: • 100% coursework made up of individual units that are teacher assessed. There is no written exam. • Core Units:Two Compulsory Units - • · Performing Arts Production Process· The Performing Arts Business

  4. Course choices • Specialist Units:Four Specialist Units selected from the following - • · Understanding Drama· Performing Scripted Plays· Acting· Musical Theatre · Devising Plays· Working as a Musical Ensemble· Solo Musical Performance· Performing Dance

  5. What skills do I need? • Many of the topics that you cover will be new and exciting, however you must be eager to learn and develop. • You must be creative and imaginative as you will constantly be creating your very own work. • You must be a team player, group work will be essential so you must be able to work as part of a team. • Continual focus and ability to meet deadlines. The course is 100% coursework so no coursework no qualification. • Attendance must be high, team work requires you to be there every lesson.

  6. What skills will I learn and develop? • You will develop your creative skills in many areas of the performing arts. • You will develop your performance skills through practical work and performances. • You will learn about the performing arts industry.

  7. Where can the course lead to? • Where can the course lead to?: • The course can provide a progression route to Level 3 BTEC Nationals in Performing Arts or AS/A2 Level qualifications. • Provide you with the practical experience needed for employment within the Performing Arts industry.
