Utilize the ascending and descending sort options for A-Z and Z-A arrangements. For bulk item selection, hold down the "Shift" key while selecting the range. Access the "Sort" menu to choose "Collection/Call number" in ascending order for better call number organization. This method enhances clarity and functionality in your cataloging process.

Sorting in Aleph • Sorting can be useful before you assign a cutter for your call number. • Sorting by title can change a large result into a more managablegroup. • Sort ascending for A-Z, descending for Z-A, etc.
In Aleph, to easily pick a large range of items use the “Shift” keyHighlight first item, scroll down to last item desired; hold down “Shift” key and then highlight last item desired; then choose “Show”
Use the “Shift” key again to choose the whole range of items sent to “Show” (first, shift, last); when all items highlighted choose “Sort”
“Sort Fields” dialogue box will appear; Choose “Collection/Call number” & “Ascending” for call number order; click “OK”
