    2. D-Day Ships Slide by Teylor Jenkins There was over 7,000 ships used in D-Day. Some of the initials for these ships were LST, LCVP, LCT, the Rhino Ferry, and many others. Most of these ships could carry more than 10 tons of tanks, cargo or fully equipped soldiers. When this vast army approached the beaches, one Nazi claimed that it would take two whole days to defeat them all. The coded names of the attacked beaches were Sword, Juno, Gold, Omaha and Utah. They were attacked by Britain, Canada and the USA. The battleships and carrier ships ranged from 160 feet to 328 feet long. There were amphibious vehicles, like the DUKW (duck), that would be launched from a boat into the water and they would drive up to dry land. The Rhino Ferry is the slowest of the fleet. It is a 176 foot-long raft that is used to carry LST cargo to and from the raid. My favorite boats were the battleships. They were very long, and had a good supply of weaponry systems machine guns, short-range missiles and others. These were the ships used by the Allies on the victorious D-Day Operation Overlord.

    3. War vehicles by Patrick flood Dukw is one of the many war vehicles used in WWII. Dukw is a six wheeled 31-foot lounge amphibius could carry 25 fully equipped solder or 5,000 pounds of cargo equipment. Jagtiger tanks weight 70.6 tons and has one 12.8 cm PaK 80L/55gun with 38 rounds and one Mg 34 machine gun. It goes 23.6 mph. Its range is 1,000 mi. Book:d-day panzer IV This tank was used to fire high explosive rounds against bunkers and fortifications. It is 19 feet long, 91/2 feet wide, and 81/2 feet high. It weighed 22 tons and it had a bow gun, machine gun and 75mm main gun. The commander had an excellent 360 degree view. PANZER V This was a very low tank which made it easy to hide and hard for the enemy to see. It had a cannon for its main gun and could shoot from a range of 1,000 yards.     4. Paratroopers of D-DAY by: George In the invasion of D-DAY paratroopers were dropped behind enemy lines before the great raid from the sea. Their goal was to weaken German defenses so that there would be less pressure on the beach raid. They knew that if the beach raid failed there would be no way to come home. They left in their planes from Portland Bill on the English coast. The 101 and the 82 divisions were dropped on the Cherbourg Peninsula. The101 division was to secure the west end behind Utah (a beach code name) and head of eastern German defenses. On the invasion Heavy fog and German guns made a disadvantage. The air pilots couldnt land their troops where they wanted to. 101 division lost many men. And only one sixth made it to destination. The 82 division did better with less casualties; but had a great loss of equipment. Together they shared equipment and men and improvised squads to make a successful attack.     5. D-day guns used by Germany and the USA. By Ryan Foray A gun that the Germans used was called the MG34. It was 48 inches, 25.4 pounds, its muzzle velocity was 2475 ft per second its cartridge is 7.92 mm the magazines were 50 round belts and 75 round drums and fired 900 bullets a minute. It was secretly made by the Germans so it wouldnt brake the treaty of Versailles which limited their arms production. The BAR made by the USA was 120 cm 19.4 pounds shot 2600 ft per second its cartridge was .30 inches held 20 round magazines and shot 550 rounds a minute. It was a Rifle and Machine gun combined. The M1919A4 (USA) which was 104 cm, weighed 31 pounds, shot 2800 ft. per second its cartridge was .30 In, held 250 bullets per round and shot 500 bullets per minute. It was a series machine gun and was known as the 30 cal. The M2HB (USA) was 65 inches weighed 84 pounds, shot 2900ft per second, the cartridge was .5 in. held 110 bullets per magazine, and shot 575 rounds per minute. The HB means Heavy Barrel version and was first produced in 1921.
