Old Academic Affairs data systems, Student Data File (SDF) Individual student registrations (i.e., credits enrolled) Automate Degree File (ADF) Individual student degrees/certificates Course and Section Analysis (CASA) Calculates credit hour cost by discipline & level Submitted by 27 State Op campuses for fall term Academic Programs APIN/APIS approved programs by academic level Counts of awards by program

    3. Limitations of old systems, Technology dates to the 1970s! Difficult to maintain or respond to todays issues Doesnt track students very well Relies on SSN Doesnt integrate data (faculty, courses, students) Doesnt identify courses Therefore, cant view student success from an academic perspective

    4. Limitations continued, Omits some instructional activity Many late starting courses not reported Many remedial/developmental courses not reported Missing important areas of information Applicants (undergrad & grad), Student Financial Aid, and Bursar (tuition & fee payments)

    5. What does SIRIS look like? Series of integrated data modules Phase I Modules: Course, Student, Term/Section & Degree Campuses implement: From Nov 2008 to Feb 2009 Phase II Modules: Applicant, Financial Aid, & Bursar SIRIS designed by SUNY Phase I approved in 2005 SIRIS part of SUNYs 5-Year Administrative Computing Plan to upgrade all admin systems
