  1. Lentil Appe is made up of 4 dals/lentils and it is very healthy. It uses just a spoonful of oil. So its almost oil-free recipe.  Lentils provide proteins, carbohydrates, iron, magnesium, and fiber. All the ingredients are easily available in the kitchen. You can also pack them in the kids tiffin boxes.  You can make the batter in advance and use it whenever required. It is best to serve at teatime or in breakfast.  To prepare the dish, you need to have a special pot i.e. Appe Patra.  Let's learn how to make lentil appe in easy steps. 

  2. Cooking Time: 30 Minutes Servings: 4 - 5   Ingredients 1 cup Black Gram 1 cup Red Lentil 1 cup Green Gram 1 cup Rice 1 tbsp crushed Ginger-Garlic 3 crushed Green Chillies Coriander leaves 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder Green chilies 1 Onion, chopped Oil            

Recipe -  Soak all gram, lentil, and rice for 2 - 3 hours and grind thickly.  Keep the mixture covered for 1/2 hour.  After the resting period is over, add ginger-garlic paste, green chilies, onion, coriander leaves, turmeric powder, and salt.  Add grated veggies like carrots, beans,peas if you like.  Mix well with hands.  Add 1/2 cup water to make a smooth batter.  Grease appe mold with little oil and heat on gas.

  4.  Add the batter to the mold.  Cover it and cook till appe becomes red-brown.  When one side is cooked properly, flip to the other side with a spoon or knife.  Add little oil to it.  Cover and let the other side cook properly.  Appe is ready to serve.  Serve hot appe with tomato ketchup or green chutney.
