  3. Victim of Crime • Victim of crime is a person who directly or indirectly experienced physical or mental harm or financial damages.

  4. The Rights of Victims of Crime • A victim of crime can give evidence. • A victim of crime can argue the other party in court. • A victim of crime can have his/her attorney in the case. • A victim of crime has a right to take part in the trial. • A victim of crime can argue against the courtruling.

  5. How not to become a victim of crime? • Do not walk in the evening alone. • Do not travel to foreign countries alone. • Tell anybody if you go somewhere. • Do not trust unknown people. • Learn self- defense.

  6. Help the Victim of a Crime • It is very important to help a victim of a crime. One of the best programs in Lithuania is ,,Social and legal protection of the victim of a crime program”. • The main aims of this program are to protect the victims of a crime, to give them social and legal help, to solve their problems.

  7. Trafficking in Human Beings • One of the most cruel crime against a person is human trafficking. • Trafficking in Human Beings is some kind of slavery. • Every year 120 000 people are trafficked across Europe. • About 3000 of them are women from the Baltic countries.

  8. In Lithuania 1200 women are trafficked every year. Usually women are used for sexual abuse.

  9. Children are very sensitive, so everything what they experienced is very important for their growth. When the Children Become Victims of a Crime

  10. Statistics shows that if child experiences violence or becomes the victim of a crime usually it happens at home. Last year in Lithuania were registered 816 reports of crime against children.
