  1. القلقلة

  2. Mechanism of Qalqala Voweled letters are produced by parting the two components of the articulated parts accompanied by opening of the mouth, circulating of the lips, or lowering of the jaw. For example: مَ مِ مُ فَ فِ فُ عَ عِ عُ سَ سِ سُ

  3. Mechanism of Qalqala Saakin letters are produced by collision of the two components of the articulated parts without any mouth or jaw movement. For example: م ف ع س ج ر

  4. Mechanism of Qalqala However.... The qalqala letters when they have a sukoon on them have violated the mechanism of articulating saakin letters. قطب جد = ق ط ب ج د

  5. Mechanism of Qalqala Because... The qalqala letters have the characteristic of shiddahالشِّدَّة (the sound does not run at all when these letters articulated with sukoon). Causing annoyance in the articulation point due to the imprisonment of the sound behind the articulation point.

  6. Mechanism of Qalqala • Solution... • To overcome this annoyance, qalqala letters when they have sukoon on them: • are produced by parting the two components of the articulated parts. Contrary to the rest of the saakin letters. • Without any correspondent movement of the mouth and jaw.

  7. Mechanism of Qalqala Difference between saakin letter, qalqala letter and voweled letter

  8. Definition of Qalqala • Disturbance of the letter • when in the state of sukoon • tothe extent of hearing a strong accent • as it is articulated by the parting of the two components of the articulation parts • withoutaccompanying it any opening of the mouth, not circulating of the lips, nor lowering of the jaw.

  9. Letters of Qalqala قطب جد ق ط ب ج د

  10. Note... • The qalala does not resemble a fethanor a dhammahnor a kesrah. • The qalala does not take the vowel of the proceeding letter nor the following letter.

  11. Merged qalaqala letter • For example: • الحَجُّ جْ +جُ = جُّ Articulated by parting of two components of articulated parts (hence qalqala) Articulated by collision of two components of articulated parts (hence no qalqala)
