  3. Set the Context • What’s the larger context within which your action plan sits? • How well is the project defined? • Does it have a beginning and an end? • What prior decisions have been made? • What parameters/constraints are in play? • What’s the importance of the project?

  4. Create the Vision/Victory • What are the highest aspirations of the group? • What taps into their imaginations and passions? • What’s a perfect completion look like? • Go beyond the typical thinking of what’s possible

  5. Assess Your Current Environment • Strength/weaknesses of the group? • External forces beyond your control? • Benefits if you’re wildly successful? • Dangers or unanticipated consequences of success?

  6. Clear Commitments • Develop a clear, compelling statement or list of components that everyone is committed to • Clarify (even more) the intent, general scope and focus of the project.

  7. Craft Clear Actions • Brainstorm tasks needed to make good on your commitments • Sort tasks into “chunks” that can be carried out by subgroups • Go beyond “forming a committee” or “making a plan” or “developing a budget”

  8. Develop Timelines • Create a visual calendar of actions • For each subgroup: • Start with an end in mind • Determine the “launch” activity action • Team/Launch/Date/Date/Date/Victory

  9. Coordinate Subgroups • Who is the overall coordinator? • Does each subgroup have a leader? • Have responsibilities been clearly assigned? • How will subgroup actions be coordinated? • Is there a need to adjust timing of subgroup actions? • Do initial budget projections need to change?

  10. Detail Specific Tasks • Create a detailed 90 day plan (who, what, by when? • Create a detailed 30 day plan (who, what, by when) • Make specific assignments that are easily achievable
