  1. Northwest Florida Water Management District Ochlockonee River Basin Stakeholders Meeting August 22, 2011

  2. Overall Meeting Goals: Get to know your community and how you view the flood protection measures and assets you have.  Share an appreciation for the value of the existing flood maps and flood protection measures.  Understand how we can build upon the existing maps and flood protection assets.

  3. Discovery Process Overview

  4. A Formal Definition of Discovery may be: “The pre-trial phase in a lawsuit in which each party, through the law of civil procedure, can obtain evidence.”

  5. For Our Purposes: “Discovery” is an Inquiry and a Process to Scope Out Future Flood Hazard Mapping Work

  6. Charter or Memorandum of Understanding

  7. One Definition of “Charter” is the grant of authority or rights, stating that the granter formally recognizes the prerogative of the recipient to exercise the rights specified. Example: A document giving royal permission to start a colony.

  8. For Our Purposes: The project “charter” is a statement of the scope, objective, and participants in a project. It provides a preliminary delineation of roles and responsibilities, outlines, the project objectives, and identifies the main stakeholders.

  9. We Are Holding This Meeting to Inquire Amongst Our Stakeholders: • Where would you like to see improvements in Flood Hazard Maps in your community? • Do you have data or other flood hazard information we can use? • What are your suggestions or ideas to help build a better or more flood resistant community?  • We want your comments on the development of our SWIM plan for the River and Bay.  • We want to help you understand the interrelation of SWIM with our Floodplain Management Program.
