  2. Joseph: blessed and favored a. The recipient of God’s presence b. Used to manifest God’s purpose Genesis 39:2, 21, 23 – The Lord was with Joseph and he prospered; The Lord was with him … and granted him favor; The Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.

  3. Joseph: a man of character a. Wouldn’t dishonor God nor be defined by circumstances. b. “I am a follower of Christ who happens to be going through _____________.” Genesis 39:9; 41:15-16 – “How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?”; [Pharaoh said], “I have heard … that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.” [Joseph replied], “I cannot do it, but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.”

Joseph: the forgiving ruler • Didn’t yield to bitterness, negativity, despair • Saw God working all things out for good even though betrayed, framed, forgotten • Genesis 45:4-5 – “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you.”
