  1. “The Blood of Jesus”Ephesians 1:7-12

  2. “The Blood of Jesus” • Blood is an interesting biological property. • Normally, 7-8% of human body weight is from blood.  In adults, this amounts to 4-5 quarts of blood.  This essential fluid carries out the critical functions of transporting oxygen and nutrients to our cells and getting rid of carbon dioxide, ammonia, and other waste products.  In addition, it plays a vital role in our immune system and in maintaining a relatively constant body temperature.  Blood is a highly specialized tissue composed of many different kinds of components.  Four of the most important ones are red cells, white cells, platelets, and plasma.  All humans produce these blood components--there are no populational or regional differences.

  3. “The Blood of Jesus” 3. In the first of the embryonic stages some of the proteins necessary to sustain life are those that make up our blood. 4. Without blood this there is no life. “ 4But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.” Genesis 9:4, Leviticus 17:11,14. Where is the “life” - in the BLOOD.

  4. “The Blood of Jesus” 5. As we think “Specifically” about the “Precious Blood of Jesus, What comes to your mind? • The Centerpiece of the Bible is The Blood of Jesus.

  5. “The Blood of Jesus” 7. There are those who claim that Christianity needs to have new symbols, people are “horrified” by the topic of His blood. a. Such a view impugns the intelligence and character of God, for God chose the blood of His Son as the means of our salvation. b. He made HIS LAMB the center of all history Revelation 13:8 c. The Cross is the place where we see how much our sin hurt God the most; it is also the place where we see how much God loved us the most – John 3:16

  6. “The Blood of Jesus” c. The Cross is the place where we see how much our sin hurt God the most; it is also the place where we see how much God loved us the most – John 3:16 d. The theology of Heaven is; Christ-centered, Cross-centered and Blood Centered.

  7. “The Blood of Jesus” • The Enormity of Sin • No book in all the Bible clashes more violently with the modern mind than the book of Leviticus. “How did this book get into the Bible?” one wonders. • Many will skip reading it, but it is one of the most important books of the Bible because it details the sacrificial system of the law of Moses . It is filled with Priest, Sacrifices and BLOOD, in that book of law, it was teaching the exceeding sinfulness of sin - Romans 7:13

  8. “The Blood of Jesus” C. IT TEACHS THAT GOD AND SIN CANNOT MIX. D. Sin contradicts God! It cannot be overlooked! E. Every sin and every impenitent will be punished! • Sin cannot be excused even by divine decree – the righteousness of God prevents it. • Sin’s sting is the sting of ETERNAL death. I Corinthians 15:56 • Forgiveness of Sin can ONLY come from the Shedding of Blood – HEBREWS 9:22.

  9. “The Blood of Jesus” HEBREWS 9:22“And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.” The law is our teacher to bring us to Christ, the final and FULL offering for Sin, Galatians 3:22-29, Romans 15:4, I Corinthians 10:11. • The old sacrificial system could not take away Sin. Hebrews 10:4 J. Acts 15:8-11 - Man could not perfectly keep the law, and man’s blood can not atone for man’s guilt. God did for man what man could not do for himself.

  10. “The Blood of Jesus” • Robert Coleman counted 460 specific references to blood in the scriptures. • No one who carefully reads the Scriptures can miss the fact that Jesus’ shedding His Blood is the Center of Christianity. • Therefore, what the Holy Spirit is telling us is that Jesus has created a BLOOD BANK in Heaven that is always full, He died to fulfill the Scriptures I Corinthians 15: 1-4.

  11. “The Blood of Jesus” However as I noted several sermons ago regarding this Atoning process we don’t take it as serious as we should; • “…Light and erroneous views of the atonement come from light and erroneous views of Sin. If sin is regarded as merely an offence against man, a weakness of human nature, a mere disease, rather than a rebellion, transgression, and enmity against God, therefore, something condemning and punishable, we shall not, of course, see any necessity for the atonement.” William Evans, The Great Doctrines of the Bible

  12. “The Blood of Jesus” • THE POWER OF THE BLOOD • The Perfect Blood of Jesus; a. Reconciles Us - II Corinthians 5:14-21 b. Washes Us - Revelation 1:5, 7:14 c. Redeems Us – Ephesians 1:7, I Peter 1:18,19 d. Cleanses Us – I John 1:7 e. Justifies Us – Romans 5: 8,9 f. Sanctifies Us – Hebrews 10:10, 13:12 g. Propitiates Us - I John 2:2 h. It Gives Us Peace- Ephesians 2:13-16 i. It enables us to over Satan – Revelation 12:11

  13. “The Blood of Jesus” 2. We see the power of His Blood in its linkage to the New Testament. a. Matthew 26:26-28 – The Lord’s Supper I Corinthians 11:25,26 Hebrews 13:20 “Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,” Every Word of the New Testament “drips” with the Blood of Christ

  14. “The Blood of Jesus” • We see the Power of his Blood in it’s Creation of the New Testament Church. Jesus considered the Church so VALUABLE that He purchased it with Own Blood. a. Acts 20:28 “Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.”

  15. “The Blood of Jesus” WATCH THIS ONE!!!! 4. We see the Power of the Blood in the supper of the New Covenant. a. Acts 2:42 – “continued in the doctrine , fellowship, breaking of bread, prayer” b. I Corinthians 10:16- 21, note Verse 21. - one way, one body (The Church), one bread, one blood, one supper, and ONE life. Next - Verse 21

  16. I CORINTHIANS 10:21 “Youcannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord's table and of the table of demons.”

  17. “The Blood of Jesus” • We see the power of the Blood in the baptism of the Great Commission. Romans 6:1-5 “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? “

  18. “The Blood of Jesus” “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be [in the likeness] of [His] resurrection,”

  19. “The Blood of Jesus” Galatians 3:26,27 “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” Colossians 2:12 “buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with [Him] through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

  20. “The Blood of Jesus” Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” • John said that these three bare witness here on the earth, “The Spirit, the water and the Blood” I John 5:3-8 B. In Baptism sinners are clothed with the Christ of the Cross. It is His Blood that bestows upon us the right to enter heaven.

  21. “The Blood of Jesus” • The world wants salvation without the Blood, without the Bible, without the Church, without the Lord’s Supper, without baptism. • This is not God’s plan – Our salvation comes through the Blood of Christ. • This is Gods Plan

  22. What MUST You Do to Be Saved? • Hear The Word Of God Romans 10:17 • Believe His Word Mark 16:16, John 8:24 • Repent of your sins Luke 13:3, Acts 2:38 • Confess your belief Romans 10:10, Acts 8:37 • Be Baptized Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38 For the Remission of Your Sins Acts 22:16 Galatians 3:26, 27 • Live Faithfully Titus 2:11-14
