  1. PSAP MANAGERMEETING

  2. AGENDA • PSAP test numbers • Alternate Emergency Numbers (10-digit Emergency Numbers) • Unwanted calls

  3. PSAP TEST NUMBERS • We need a way to test 9-1-1 trunks from a remote location prior to dispatching repair tech • Every PSAP has a test number that will allow testing without having to be in that city • The dial-able 10 digit number will send a call directly to the PSAP’s 9-1-1 trunks • The ALI record shows “Test St” as the address

  4. PSAP TEST NUMBERS • Edison test numbers are 817-387-xxxx • Riverside test numbers are 214-751-xxxx • If you get a hang up call on this test number and call it back it rings on your 9-1-1 line • Can be very confusing to call takers if they are not familiar with this

  5. ALTERNATE EMERGENCY NUMBERS • When a citizen dials 9-1-1 they are giving up some “private” information • Phone number • Name • Address – LAT/LON on cell phone • Some citizens do not want to give up their private information but want their call answered with same priority as 9-1-1

  6. ALTERNATE EMERGENCY NUMBERS • Alternate Emergency Numbers provide those citizens that service • These are dial-able 10 digit phone numbers • If you have an ACD they ring like 9-1-1 calls • In ring all PSAP’s they have separate buttons • Only one number is “published” – there are at least 2 lines for every PSAP

  7. ALTERNATE EMERGENCY NUMBERS • Large PSAP’s have 5 – 10 roll over lines behind the “published” number • All numbers in the Alternate Emergency roll over group are dial-able

  8. UNWANTED CALLS • PSAP Test Numbers and Alternate Emergency Numbers are dial-able 10 digit numbers • Both of these numbers are delivered like a 9-1-1 call • Any dial-able number can be misdialed • Any dial-able number can receive “robo calls”

  9. UNWANTED CALLS • All PSAP Test Numbers and Alternate Emergency Numbers are on the Do Not Call List • Unfortunately some “robo calls” still get through
