  13. COLLEGE ATHLETES? NCAA – National Collegiate Athletic Association – • requires potential Div 1 and 2 student athletes to register at www.ncaaclearinghouse.com • Check their website for required GPAs and SAT/ACT scores Taking credit recovery?: Check with NCAA for approval.

  20. AUGUST/SEPTEMBER • Register to take the October SAT/ACT • Attend Senior Evaluation Conference w/ Counselor • Select colleges & attend college fairs • Begin work on applications • college essay • resume

  21. OCTOBER/NOVEMBER • Take the SAT/ACT • Complete applications • request letters of recommendation – 10-day notice • Submit scholarship applications • College visits • Submit college applications (Thanksgiving)

Early Action vs. Early Decision • Early decision plans allow you to apply early (usually in November) and get an admission decision from the college well in advance of the usual notification date. IT IS BINDING!!!! • Early action plans are not binding, meaning you do NOT have to commit to a college to which you've applied for early action. Under these plans, you may apply to other colleges. Usually, you can let the college know of your decision in the late spring or whenever you've decided.
