Student will gain knowledge and demonstrate: Course Description Cosmetology is a two-year program designed to introduce students to fundamental training and experiences needed to become licensed cosmetologists. • Professionalism • Disinfection • Anatomy, Physiology, and Basic Chemistry • Business management • Hair care procedures • Skin care • Nail care • Salon safety • Interpersonal communication skills • Leadership skills • Beyond The Chair – Cleveland Clinic

  5. 11th Grade • Math • English • Science – Chemistry and Biology • Grades are taken from home school and reported to the state at the end of the school year. Academic Requirements

  6. Each instructor assigns a designated number of tasks for the day. Students are graded on the performance of those tasks based on the competency requirements set forth by the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology Lab Assessments

Good attendance is key to successful completion of the licensure program. • 4days absent – Student placed on probation- improvement plan written -conference scheduled with student, parent, vocational director, and home school representative. • 9 days absent– Hearing held /removal from the program.   11. 50 required hours Completed at a salon in good standing with the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology. Mandatory parent/student meeting at the beginning of second semester to complete internship paperwork. Start looking now. Internship

Students are to dress in the cosmetology uniform daily. • Noncompliance will result in loss of points and disciplinary action. • The cosmetology uniform consists of: Black smock is part of the cosmetology kit Black uniform pants- (woven fabric) Absolutely No sweat/knit pants/leggings/jeggings) Solid black clinic shoes fully enclosed. (No clogs/crocs or fabric) Cosmetology uniform

  13. Uniform must be laundered weekly. Repairs must be tended to immediately. Pants must be hemmed to a professional length, sagging of pants is not permitted. Socks must be worn with shoes at all times. Hoodies and sweatshirts are prohibited under uniform smock. Noncompliance with uniform standards will result in disciplinary actions. Uniform Expectations

  14. Kit is individually ordered and shipped to C.F. Brush High school. Kit cost - $361.64 - Left handed – lavenderorder form $ 361.64 – Right handed Uniform smock is included. Order by July 10, 2014 to ensure delivery before school starts. Burmax order forms are provided Cosmetology Kit

  15. The entire kit MUST remain in the cosmetology department at ALL times. • The kit will be allowed to go home with the student at the END of their junior year and returned with any missing items at the beginning of their senior year at the students expense. KIT

  18. Handbook contains all information concerning Brush High School. All discipline consequences are listed. Suspensions from either the home school or Brush High School are treated equally and consequences apply to both schools. Discipline

  19. Successful completion and full credit for Cosmetology, Math, English and Science. Summer school is available for : Math, English and Science. Required 50 hour Internship Pre-requisite to senior year

  20. Successful completion of Cosmetology 11, Cosmetology 12, Internship, Math, Science, English, enables the student to sit for the State Board of Cosmetology exam in Columbus. • Testing takes place spring senior year 2016. State Board Exam Prerequisites
