  2. The British peopleare really keen on sport and games. They are even called sport-lovers. They love playing, watching and speaking about this. Some idioms came in their language from sport. For example, “ to play the game “ means “ to be fair “. The English people invented many types of sport games, which are popular now. In Great Britain many sport clubs for professionals and usual lovers. Thousand of people prefer spending their time outdoor games, athletics, swimming, football and etc.

  3. Football is the most popular team game in Britain. It is played in most of the schools, and there are thousands of teams for young men in all parts of the country. The public football is a professional game which is watched on Saturday afternoons at the stadium. • Professional football is a big business. Every large town has one or more professional clubs, like Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United from England, that well-known all over the world. One of the most important Britain football stadiums is Wembley. There are matches between England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

  4. English people like playing cricket. They think that summer without cricket isn’t summer. Cricket is a national English game. Players usually wear white boots, white shirt and white long trousers. They play with balls, bats and wickets. Girls play cricket too.

  5. Horse-racing is a popular sport in Britain. A lot of people love races and even risk money for horse they think will win. Also you can visit dog-racing and motor-racing too.

  6. Rugby football is played with an oval ball. The players of the other team try to stop the man running with the ball. There are fifteen players in each team.

  7. There are sport in all schools and colleges. English boys love running and swimming. Boxing is very popular sport too. Grass hockey is the most popular game in girls’ schools.
