  2. Childhood • Sacagawea was born in Idaho 1779 or 1780 • She was named Sacagawea because Sacaga means “bird” and wea means “woman”, she was named that because as a child she was bright and fast • Sacagawea was captured by another Indian tribe

  3. Mid-life • After she was captured, she was forced to marry a man named Charbonneau (Shar buh No) who was three times as old. • At age 16 she had a baby, Clark called him “Pomp” • Charbonneau had heard some news of a needed guide, she agreed to go and was a great help

  4. Ending • Without Sacagawea the Lewis and Clark expedition would of failed • When Sacagawea died, she died a happy woman, and proud of herself
