  4. Darzee and His Wife • Tailor Birds

  5. Chuchundra • Muskrat who is so afraid he won’t go to the center of the room. He warns Rikki about the Cobras’ plan.

  6. Karait- Snake • Small Snake paralyzed by Rikki’s bite and beaten by the Big Man with a stick.

  7. Setting • This story takes place at a big bungalow in Segowlee cantonment in India. Late 1800’s • There is a large garden next to the house where Rikki-tikki battles Nag and Nagaina.

  8. Conflict • Nag and Nagaina are trying to kill the family members. Rikki-tikki’s job is to protect the family. When the snakes attack Rikki-tikki tries to kill them.

  9. Foreshadowing • This story foreshadows an event when Teddy’s mother says that she shudders to think of snakes being in the house and trying to kill Teddy.

  10. Climax • The Climax of the story is when Rikki Tikki confronts Nagaina on the veranda before she bites Teddy.
