  3. Why do Corporations Give? • To promote the corporate brand • To enhance the corporate image/ recognition To help the local community To comply with the law To keep employees happy and invested

  4. Grants through the corporate foundation • Community grants • Matching gifts • Employee discretionary gifts • In-kind – products, service, cause-related marketing How do Corporations Give?

  5. The Corporate Foundation • Philanthropic and related to industry or founder’s interests • Formal grant proposal process • Access through corporate employees, board members, etc. CORPORATE FOUNDATION GRANTS

  6. Community/Public Affairs Division • Focused on giving back to community issues/good neighbor • Corporate employees may volunteer • Smaller amounts of money • Usually a quick turnaround COMMUNITY GRANTS

  7. Corporate Matching Employee Gifts • Match may be 1:1 or some percentage of the employee’s gift • Can be part of a larger workplace giving effort • All individual donors should be asked if their employer matches gifts MATCHING GIFTS
