  1. Box and Whisker Plots

  2. Box and Whisker Plotshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMb6HaLXmjY • Step 1: Order your data from least to greatest • Step 2: Divide the data in half • Find lower half median (middle number) = Lower quartile (LQ) • Find upper half median (middle number)= Upper quartile (UQ) • Inter quartile range = UQ – LQ • Find median (middle number) • Find lower extreme = lowest number • Find Upper extreme = highest number • EX: Scores on a Math Test • 64, 95, 83, 80, 77, 75, 79, 86, 90, 98, 71

  3. How to make a box-and-whisker plot • Step 3: Make a number line with your range of data. • Step 4: make a point for: Lower extreme, LQ, Median, UQ, and upper extreme • Step 5: Draw vertical lines through LQ, Median, and UQ • Step 6: Make a box from the LQ vertical line to the UQ verticleline. • Step 7: extend a straight line to both the upper extreme and the lower extreme.
