  6. 1ST OF DECEMBER 1918THE GREAT UNION KING FERDINAND QUEEN MARY Ferdinand became king of the Kingdom of Romania on October 10, 1914. He ruled Romania during the First World War, choosing to fight on the side of the Entente against the Central Powers. At the end of the war, Romania ended the process of achieving the national-unitary state by uniting Bessarabia, Bukovina and Transylvania with the Old Roumanian Country. On October 15, 1922, in Alba Iulia, Ferdinand has crowned as the first king of Great Romania. The Mary Queen, the wife of King Ferdinand of Romania, descended from major European royal families, opposed Romania's entry into World War I on behalf of the Central Powers, and supported the alliance with the Entente in order to support the achievement of the Romanian national state.

  7. AFTER THE 2ND WORLD WAR, KING MIHAI ABDICATES AND THE COMUNISM IS SET UP IN ROMANIA The King Michael I His Majesty, The King Michael I, opposed all powers of establishing communist authority. Eventually, he was forced to abdicate on December 30, 1947. His Majesty encouraged respect for human rights, development of market economy, preservation of national culture, observance of historical truth, guarantee of private property, consolidation of the rule of law and democracy in our country.

Communist dictatorship The government set up on March 6, 1945, led by Dr. PetruGroza, prepared the establishment of the communists, finalizing this process by falsifying the elections in November 1946. In the autumn of 1947, the main opposition parties were dissolved, their leaders being sentenced to years of imprisonment. December 1947 King Michael was forced to abdicate and leave the country.

  9. The Communist Resistance The confiscation of land, animals and farm equipment from the peasants begins, and those who have been thrown into prison. The establishment of communism in Romania has met with a strong resistance from the population. Starting with 1948, resistance nuclei formed against communism, most of them activating in the mountains and trying to prevent the establishment of the communist regime, being helped by the states of N.A.T.O. These groups were slowly annihilated by methods of terror. In 1977, the first organized protest movement against the communist system and certain miners' liberties in the Jiu Valley. In 1987 the workers from the "SteagulRosu" Brasov factory were also revolted.

TheRomanian Revolution from December of 1989 In ‘80s, amid a severe and unprecedented deterioration in living conditions, the discontent of the population turned into hatred of communist dictatorship. In the context of a broad retreat of the Soviet Union's policy, in December 1989, there is a popular revolution in Timisoara, propagated to Bucharest, which had as a consequence the removal of the communist regime.

  11. The Mineriade of JUNE The mineriadeof June 1990 was an action by the miners in post-December Romania. It took place from 13 to 15 June 1990 in Bucharest, when the police forces, supported by the miners, intervened forcefully against the protesters in the University Square and the civilian population. It was considered the bloody, the most brutal in style and scope of all miners' actions. The miners acts -brutal violations of democracy

  12. Protests in Victoria Square in Bucharest The protests were announced on Facebook, in Bucharest and other counties in the country, but also in Milan, Zurich, Birmingham and Paris. Civic groups and non-governmental organizations and trade unions have called on people to demand in the streets the Laws of Justice, the rejection in the Parliament of the Ordinance on Amendments to Tax Legislation, the resignation of the Government and the Presidents of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.
