  2. Questions? Why do you think that the balloon is in the shape of a heart? Why do you think the child is a girl instead of a boy? In the photo the words to the side, mean what to this particular piece of art? Why is the balloon the only color part of the picture?

  3. Artist Background • The author of this photograph has a background unlike what you would imagine. He is very original just like his art. What makes him stand out his ability of specializing in graffiti. He takes a in depth look at the creators and the filthy rich industry that has sprung up around it. Then by what he observes is what his photos reflect.

  4. Photograph background • The photo doesn’t have much of a background. Its located in Southbank London, U.K, and it was created in December of 2004.

  5. Subject Matter • The main subject of the photo is the young girl reaching up for the balloon. The words to the side also grasp your attention because it shows some juxtaposition with the dark and light colors against each other.

  6. Pathos • This photo appeals to the emotional part of you, in the sense that this is what most girls hope for and long for in their in their future. Some feel like we can t live without love or the feeling of being wanted. This also shows that we will chase anything we can if it involves something that we hope and dream for.

  7. Audience According to the rhetorical triangle the logo of the photo would also be the title “ There is always hope”. The pathos of this would be it appeals to women that pass by on the sidewalk. Lastly the ethos of this is to show what girls are longing for in life, even at such a early age as this young girl.

  8. Hue and Saturation • The main focus of saturation in the photo is the balloon heart. It is created with a warm color (red) which is also a primary color. and is very darkly shaded. With the heart being the only color it really stands out to me, and is tied more to my emotions than the other parts of the photo that are gray.

  9. Questions? 1. What If the camera was moved to the right of the photo, what important ideas would be lost? 2. What if the camera was moved to the left of the photo?

  10. Composition: Framing • I believe the photographer took this photo directly facing the artwork. If he/she would have taken it from another angle I don’t think it would have the same meaning because you couldn’t fully see it in full perspective. If the camera was moved to the right it would cut out the most important part( the balloon), and the picture wouldn’t make sense. No one would no what the words were pertaining to. If the camera was moved to the left then the words would be cut out which would loose the way of assuring this girl that everything would be okay.

  11. Font • The writing seems very far out to the right. It is a very simple font, but why are all of the letters capital letters instead of lowercase?
