Mrs. Shirinzadeh’s 2 nd grade class. 2010-2011. Arrival and Dismissal. Your child may arrive at school beginning at 7:15. The tardy bell rings at 7:50 . It is vital that your child arrives before the 7:50 bell. In the afternoon, dismissal begins at 2:05. Transportation.

  1. Mrs. Shirinzadeh’s2nd grade class 2010-2011

  2. Arrival and Dismissal • Your child may arrive at school beginning at 7:15. • The tardy bell rings at 7:50. • It is vital that your child arrives before the 7:50 bell. • In the afternoon, dismissal begins at 2:05.

  3. Transportation • One of our top priorities is getting your child home safely. In order to do that, we need your help. • If there is ANY change in how your child will be going home, a note must be sent. • Change of transportation notes are on the blog. • Please include the following on all transportation notes: • Your child’s name • Teacher’s name • Date • Place the note in your child’s plastic folder.

  4. Specials • Our specials time is from 11:00 – 11:50. • We have a six day rotation which includes PE, Art, Music, Spanish, and Technology. • Please dress appropriately (sneakers!) on PE days. • The specials’ calendar will be sent home monthly.

  5. Lunch • We have lunch from 12:32 to 1:02. • Please feel free to join us by meeting us in the front hall by the cafeteria. • Food from outside restaurants may not be brought in to the cafeteria. • Please make sure to label all lunch money with your child’s name, grade, and teacher’s name. • Breakfast $1.00 • Lunch $1.60 ($2.50 for guests, even siblings) • Extra Milk 50¢ • Ice Cream 60¢

  6. Birthdays • If your child would like to share a birthday treat with the class, you may bring a birthday dessert to share at snack time outside. • I will send you the birthday snack guidelines when it is closer to your child’s birthday.

  7. Contacting Me • If you ever have a questions or concerns, please contact me. • You can drop a note in your child’s folder, email me (Monica.Shirinzadeh@cobbk12.org), or call me (770-437-5945) at school. • If you call during the regular school day, the secretary will take a message. • Due to our schedule, we may not receive your message until after the students have left. • If I have not returned your call by the next day, please drop a note in your child’s communication folder. • Email is usually the fastest way to reach me. • Please note that transportation changes can not be left on voice mail or email.

  8. Money • Please make sure any money you send in is marked properly and in the correct envelope. • ASP money must be in a brown ASP envelope that has been completely filled in. • PTA money can be in a plain envelope, but needs to be marked “PTA” and must show your child’s name, grade, and teacher’s name. • All money for field trips, performing arts, etc. that comes home with the white Teasley envelope must be returned in that envelope. • It must be completely filled in with your child’s name, classroom teacher’s name and grade and the necessary information at the bottom.

  9. Snack • Please send in a healthy snack for your child each day. • Please label your child’s snack. • All snacks need to be in a plastic bag. No containers. • We do not eat lunch until 12:32 and the children get very hungry. • Snack time will be after math which ends at 9:15.

  10. Agendas/Take Home Folders • Please sign your child’s Tiger Pride behavior chart each night located at the front of the agenda. • You do not have to sign the agenda. • Your child will bring home his/her agenda every night. • The list of words on the right side are vocabulary words, not spelling words. • You can write notes to me on the right side of the agenda EXCEPT for transportation changes. • Your child will use the right side of the agenda to communicate why he/she is on green, yellow, or red. • Please make sure you check your child’s plastic folder daily and remove the papers on the right side.

  11. Homework • Please help your child take responsibility for completing and returning homework. • Homework is an extension of study at school and allows your child extra practice. • Completed homework is due the next day and should be in your child’s plastic folder. • Your child should be reading for 2o minutes each night. • All of the homework assignments will be written in your child’s agenda.

  12. Accelerated Reader • You or your child must fill out the red A.R. folder to take a test. • Each child will have their own reading goals and will be rewarded for achieving them. • STAR test

  13. Handouts • Your child’s file folder has the math and writing benchmarks, dialogue journal, specials’ calendars (Aug. & Sept.), a change of transportation sheet, and the absent note. • Dialogue journals will come home every Friday starting this week. • Please take the time to write back to your child and return his/her dialogue journal on Monday.

  14. Classroom Blog / Teasley News • I will update our classroom blog throughout the week. • Please sign up tonight to receive updated information. • Please read and share the blog with your child. • Please write your email on the paper provided before you leave, so I can add you to the email distribution list

  15. Medication • If your child needs to take medication at school or keep an inhaler for emergencies, please send in a detailed note. • A medication form from the clinic must be completed before any medicine can be administered.

  16. Label Belongings • Please label all personal items (jacket, book bag, lunch box, etc.). • Your child’s name should be clearly visible. • Many children have the same exact bag or coat. • If an item gets misplaced, let me know and I can remind your child to check the lost and found.

  17. Discipline • Behavior management is vital to creating a classroom where learning is the focus. • I want to develop a climate of respect and responsibility. • We will continue to use Teasley Tiger Pride Behavior Program. • The children are working on being PRO students! Prepared Respectful On Task

  18. Additional Supplies / Donations • Your child needs a 1 inch binder with a clear cover for his/her portfolio • We will have different days throughout the year for your child to share his/her portfolio with you. • We also need two electric pencil sharpeners for the students. • Thank you for all of the other wish list items!
