  3. I have noticed that in life, a lot of people choose jobs to serve themselves. People want: Money Fame Perks Travel

  4. At the beginning of this course I was unsure that Primary Teaching was for me and I still I am… …but I have been learning what it means and what it takes to be a teacher.

  5. The main reason I would want to be a teacher is so I can serve children and make a difference in someone’s life.

  6. Just like the teacher’s I have had, I want to be passionate and caring about teaching.

  7. “In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness, and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned…” Titus 2:7-8

  8. I believe that being a teacher is one of the most rewarding jobs if not the most. This position of responsibility is not to be taken lightly but to be treated as a privilege.

  9. The most important aspect I have learnt about being a teacher: There is so much more than meets the eye!!

  10. Students cannot learn if a teacher just stands in front of the class and shouts out information.

  11. Teachers help students “acquire the skills and knowledge needed to access the many information resources available”. Thus they are making sure the classroom is “learner-centred”. Fried, R. (2001)

  12. Discipline is important as “minor infractions and repeated disruptions are the most problematic”. They are a hindrance to other students trying to learn and upset the atmosphere of the classroom. Arbuckle, C. & Little, E. (2004)

  13. It is important to accept every student’s culture and encourage that culture within school life.

  14. Parent participation is crucial when supporting and caring about a child’s education. Without it, students’ learning will suffer as what they are learning at school is not acknowledged at home.

  15. Children learn best when they are learning visually, auditory and moving at the same time.

  16. “I love the light bulb moments… when the students say ‘I’ve got it’.” - Tim Johns (2004) By providing a supportive and nurturing environment, teachers contribute to students’ sense of self-worth, enthusiasm for learning and optimism for the future.

  18. I have learned that the role of a teacher is so fundamental in every child’s life. I know that at the moment I do not have a full grasp of everything that I teacher is and I look forward to continuing on through this course and discovering so many more things.
