Yerevan is the capital and largest city of Armenia and one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities. Situated along the Hrazdan River, Yerevan is the administrative, cultural, and industrial center of the country. It has been the capital since 1918, the thirteenth in the history of Armenia, and the seventh located in or around the Ararat plain. Yerevan was named the 2012 World Book Capital by UNESCO. Yerevan is an associate member of Eurocities
On the green space of Norksk height is located the Victory Park or “Akhtanak” Park dedicated to the victory of the USSR in the Second World War. It is one of favorite places Yerevan citizens
The monument called “Mother Armenia” personifying the eternal readiness of Armenia to protect its people
“Mother Armenia” is a sculpture of a woman with a sword in hands and shield at her feet personifying the image of the Native land.
The total height of the monument is 43.5 m. The pedestal host the museum dedicated to the victory in the Second World War.
Mayr Hayastan, the Monument to Mother Armenia In front of the statue on the granite platform burns the eternal flame in the memory to the victims of the Second World War. Round the statue you will see the samples of military vehicles.

A khachkar, also known as an Armenian cross-stone is a carved, memorial stele bearing a cross, and often with additional motifs such as rosettes, interlaces, and botanical motifs.
Each year on May 9 Armenia celebrates the Victory Day in the Second World War and the representatives of the Armenian Government visit the Victory Park and lay a wreath at the monument in the memory of the Unknown Soldier. The victims are usually honored with a minute of silence. Note that for Armenians May 9 is a three-in-one Holiday because it marks not only the Victory Day, but also the Liberation of Shushi (a town in the disputed region of Nagorno Karabakh) and the anniversary of the Nagorno Karabakh Defense Army. Revived Armenia Monument Sundial The Eternity sign can be found everywhere in Armenian architecture; on doors, walls, and so on. The sign was carved on numerous Khachkars (Cross-stones) and Armenian Churches walls in ancient Armenia. The sign is known to be distinguished with both right and left rotations, which represent (more or less) activity and passivity. For example, a cradle or cot for а baby boy may be decorated with the right whirling eternity sign and a cradle or cot for а baby girl with the left whirling eternity sign
