Emil Chendea, graphic artist, painter and photographer. Born in Transylvania, Romania where he studied paintings, drawing, and art history. Immigrated to US in 1980. Lived in Long Island, New York, Fort Lauderdale, Florida and finally since 2010 settled in Sacramento, California. Awards for book design and illustration as well as for paintings.

  2. “I was born in Transylvania, Romania, long time ago... I studied painting, drawing and art history at the Fine Arts High School in the city of Cluj in Romania and graphic design at the Fine Arts Institute in Bucharest in Romania. Many of my works (designed and illustrated books) were awarded with national and international awards. I immigrated with my family to United States in 1980 and one year later I started my first job at Macmillan Educational Company, a division of Macmillan Publishing Inc. in New York City as a graphic artist working on projects like Collier’s Encyclopedia as well as Merit Students,  Collier’s and Health Yearbooks ‘till 1995. I began painting again after many years of interruption. Real painting. I could not resist temptation to lay down on the canvas the beauty of the landscape there in Florida.  My work  presented at  various shows  was appreciated and sometime awarded. Some paintings are in private and public collections in USA, Canada and Australia. Recently I joined the Sacramento Fine Arts Center and Northern California Arts willing to be active in the artistic life of our community. You’ll find on my site various pages with my work.
