GÉANT2 Network Expansion: Operational Dark Fibre Routes and Enhanced Support Services

The GÉANT2 network is now operational with 14 out of 18 Dark Fibre routes and 23 out of 26 leased circuits in service, crossing 178 Optical Nodes. Enhanced support from the GÉANT2 NOC includes capabilities for WDM, SDH, and IP services. Key interconnections are established with T1 centers in NL, UK, DE, and IT. Additionally, reliable 10GE support is ready on various Optical Cross Connects (OXC). Future plans include interoperability trials and further expansion with partners Renater and Janet, ensuring robust network reliability and functionality.
