Project Overview • The MoHealthWINs grant has allowed MCC to install a new state-of-the-art “Virtualization Production Lab” at our Business & Technology campus • Lab will be used in a variety of ways, and will enhance program curriculum • Virtual computing resources will be offered to MOHealthWINs participants across the state. • System is designed to support 250 simultaneous users

So what is Virtualization? • In computing, virtualization is the creation of a virtual (rather than actual) version of something, such as a hardware platform, operating system (OS), storage device, or network resources.[1] • In other words… separating logical resources from physical components. • Resource sharing • More efficient use of resources. Project Planning… • Consulted with Cerner on how these systems are built and used in the healthcare industry • Consulted with AOS on how these systems are implemented in an education environment • Joined VMware IT Academy • Many hours of effort also from MCC’s engineering team, other hardware/software vendors, and the organizations listed above

Other Ways to Enhance Curriculum • Build robust troubleshooting scenarios • Students can build and break as much as they want in their virtual environment without worrying about the constraints of the local computer • Students can access the system outside of the classroom • Students and even Employers can use the system to train on a wide variety of technologies
