  2. Introduction • Jesus offers another agriculture-based parable • A parable with multiple interpretations

  3. The Situation of the Faith in Jesus’ day • The early church struggled with oppression • Many joined the faith • When the persecutions got tough, many left

  4. Interpretations • The Harvest is a metaphor for the end of time (Joel 3:3) • The crop determined the harvest – it is a personal choice to stay in the faith or leave • Patience – the farmer has to wait until the crop is ready

  5. For Us Today • Why did you come into the faith? • Why do you stay in the faith? • Think about the blessing you have received

  6. For Us Today • Hard times make people question their faith • Hard times is when faith should be strengthened • Remember the work of the LORD cannot always be seen • But like the wind it is always there

  7. For Us Today • If you cannot see the LORD’s work perhaps you need a new focus – the LORD will give that to you.
