Exploring Antarctica: The Frozen Continent of Surprising Extremes

Antarctica is a unique landmass located in the eastern, western, and southern hemispheres but completely absent from the northern hemisphere. Covering roughly 5.5 million square miles, it is larger than both Europe and Australia. Home to no indigenous population, about 4,000 scientists visit during the summer months. The continent boasts the highest peak, Vinson Massif, at nearly 17,000 feet, and the deepest ocean point is at sea level. Visitors can encounter stunning wildlife including whales and penguins amidst breathtaking ice-covered landscapes.
