  2. Les Invalides is located in the 7e arrondissement

  3. Les Invalides was built by Louis XIV in 1670

  4. It was originally built as a hospital and retirement home for war veterans, and part of the building is still used for this

  5. The complex provides quarters for 7,000 people

  6. Today it houses a military museum called Musee de l’Armee

  7. The museum at Les Invalides is known for its large collection of Middle Age armours

  9. Les Invalides is also home to many tombs and vaults

  10. The most notable tomb is the tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte, the greatest French military genius of all time

  11. The tomb of Napoleon is located under the huge gold dome

  12. The dome is part of the chapel often called Eglise du Dome

  13. The dome is 107 meters high (351 feet) making it one of the tallest monuments in Paris

  14. The dome is covered in 12.65 kilograms of gold leaf
