  4. OVERVIEW • PD Responsibilities • Course Criteria • Annual Reports/ Re-Affiliation • Program Resources

  5. PD Responsibilities • Implement and Manage the program • Notify MTN of problems, disputes or concerns • Maintain adequate training resources • Responsible for cards and tests • Monitor and review courses • Teach instructor and/or provider courses • Review the instructor folders

PD Responsibilities • Appoint qualified TSF’s (must meet qualifications, PD may not waiver) • Monitor Instructors and Satellites • Review and sign PCR’s • Financial Disclosures are current for all Instructors (annual requirement) • Annual Reports/Re-Affiliation • Provide PA orientation of new individual

  7. PD Appointment Criteria • Needs to be a current Instructor in the respective program • At least 2 yrs experience as an ACLS instructor and have taught a minimum of 8 course. One must have been an Instructor course. • Cannot be the same person as Program Administrator

  8. PD Appointment length • PD appointments are Training Site specific and do not transfer, length of appointment is at the discretion of the CO. • TSF card is good for two years. • PD’s TSF cards are signed by the MTN Director • Maintain a current TSF Card. • Nomination packages to replace a PD should be sent to MTN NLT 10 days prior to the incumbent’s departure (request 4-6 weeks). • Both the PA and PD have to be at the site to continue training!!!

COURSE CRITERIA • MTN Handbook 2-20 (Course Criteria) • Course instructors must be current • Course must be taught according to guidelines • Each student must have the current textbook and CD • A course evaluation must be used to obtain feedback • After completion of the course, the appropriate card of training will be issued

  10. COURSE CRITERIA • MTN Handbook 2-21 (Skills Test) • Skills tests are determinant of the students mastery of the course material • Use the appropriate skills test sheet in the curriculum • MTN Handbook 2-22 (Written Test) • Students must score 84% or higher on test.

  11. COURSE CRITERIA • MTN Handbook 2-23 (Remediation) • Instructors must provide remedial training to students. • If after remediation, the student is unsuccessful, they will not receive a card and will be required to attend another class. (All paperwork must be maintained for 3yrs)

  12. COURSE CRITERIA • MTN Handbook 2-24 (Instructor to student ratio) • For ACLS • Student to Instructor 6:1 • Student to Manikin 3:1 • Manikin to Instructor 2:1 • Student to AED 3:1

  13. COURSE CRITERIA • MTN Handbook 2-25 (Renewal) • Provider • Attend a Initial or Renewal course • Have a current Provider card in discipline • Pass with 84% or better • Complete Skills testing

COURSE CRITERIA • MTN Handbook 2-25 (Renewal Continued) - Instructor - Option 1 • Demonstrate provider skills and pass test with 84% or better • Teach minimum of 4 courses • Attend updates • Receive successful monitoring evaluation - Option 2 • Complete instructor course • Be monitored teaching provider course

  16. CORE INSTRUCTOR COURSE(CIC) • MTN Handbook 2-27 - All new BLS instructors are required to complete the AHA CIC before completing the instructor course. - Who needs the CIC: • All instructors trained after 1 Oct 06 • Are adding discipline • Becoming TSF/PD • National Faculty

POST COURSE REPORTS (PCR) • A PCR should include: • PCR Cover Page (Type of course taught) • Course Grade Report • Current MTN Summary Course Evaluation form • Agenda • Financial Disclosure • Renewal Checklist for renewing instructor ( if applicable) • Instructor Candidate form (if Applicable)

  25. MTN Delinquency Policy • < 15 Days – PA and or PD is notified. • 15-20 Senior Leadership is notified • 25-30 TS is placed in abeyance. • 30-45 TS is terminated. • Exceptions on case by case basis with prior coordination.
