  1. The Bunkhouse • Read the description of the bunkhouse at the start of Section 2. • Create a sketch/diagram using the app of your choice! • Annotate your sketch with quotes from the passage.

  2. What does this tell us? • What does the description of the bunkhouse reveal to us about these men (the ranch workers) and how they live? • Answer this question using AT LEAST 3 PEE paragraphs.

  3. What is The American Dream? • Scan and watch the video. • Do these ideas match up with the definition you got for homework? • How do these people’s ideas compare with George and Lennie’s dream?

  4. Candy Annotate directly onto your eBook so that all of your notes are kept safe! • Re read this section to highlight the words and phrases Steinbeck uses to construct Candy’s character. • Can you find any repetition of particular words? • Why do you think Steinbeck repeats these particular words?

The Boss • What is different about what the Boss wears to what George, Lennie and Candy wear? • “...to prove he was not a laboring man.” What do you think this means? • How does this conversation give us the sense that George and Lennie’s friendship is very unusual?
