  2. Candlemas • In Estonia we call it küünlapäevaks. Old Estonians celebrated candlemas on 2nd February. • This day is dedicated to virgin Maria. • Candlemas made the winter into half. The farmers checked ifithe half of the food is still there. • Candlemas was women’ s day and on that day the women went to the pub. When the women were in the pub, than the men were doing women’s jobs. The women drankCandlemas drink.

  3. Candlemas food was oatporridge and pork. • On that day was denied to do handyiraft, but they made candles that were lighting very bright. • On the 2nd February is anniversary of TartuPeace Treaty in Estonia, too. It stands for Estonian War of Independence.
