  3. FRANNY Franny is moving to Japan. She is nine years old. She has a sister called Dana and a dog called Knox. It is up to us to help her to know about Japan. She has to know as much as we can tell her. We hope she has a brilliant time.

  4. FOOD • Japanese people eat a large variety of food. • Many traditional foods are sushi and seafood. • They eat grasshoppers and seafood. • All types of food can be bought

  5. SCHOOL • In Japan students practise calligraphy. • School begin at 8.30. • Students clean the classrooms every day. They even clean the toilets.

  6. CLOTHING • Kimonos are traditional Japanese clothing. • They usually have patterns about nature on them.

  7. WEATHER • It is hot and cold • In winter it is very snowy • At the end of winter all the snow melts and it can cause major floods

  8. TRADITIONS and FESTIVALS • Children's festivals are held several times a year • Childers day is on the 5th of May • They hang carp kites

  9. EARTHQUAKES AND VOLCANOES • Mt Fuji is a dormant volcano • It is 3776 meters high • Mt Fuji has snow and ice on the top, it is the summit • Mt Fuji last erupted in 1707. It could erupt again. • It takes nine hours to climb Mt Fuji

  10. TRANSPORT • The cities that make up the greater area of Tokyo are all linked by railway lines. • Tokyo’s fastest train is the bullet train • Cars are not very common in Japan
