  2. ANSI PART 68 • Refers to the document to be created by TR41.9 and eventually submitted to ACTA • Has received PN No. 3-0005 from TIA TR41.9-01-02-019

  3. Subpart A - General • Sections to be in ANSI Part 68: • A new scope section- • add sentence capturing the grandfathering concept to the scope of the ANSI PART 68; also capturing the essence of the issues of changes to equipment – SEE SCOPE STATEMENT • All of 68.3 definitions except those found in the new CFR Part 68 • Definitions found in new CFR Part 68 to be included in an informative annex within ANSI Part 68 • A new Reference section for a list of documents such as TSB 31, etc. TR41.9-01-02-019

  4. Subpart B – Conditions on use of TE • Not technical in nature • Not retained in ANSI Part 68 • Issues of concerns: • Add a sentence to address plug & jack means of connection in subpart F (including alternative means, hard-wired, etc.) (refer to 68.104) – place this sentence in the Subpart F introduction paragraph TR41.9-01-02-019

  5. Subpart C – TE Approval Procedures • Not technical in nature – not to be included in ANSI Part 68 • Issues of concerns: • Capture the intent of Sec 68.214 (P68 Pre-R&O)“Changes in Registered Equipment and circuitry” – to be covered in SCOPE section of ANSI P68 • Concerns about Sec 68.216 (P68 Pre-R&O)“Repair of Registered Equipment and Registered Protective Circuitry” are already covered in the definition of Responsible Party- not retained in ANSI Part 68. TR41.9-01-02-019

  6. Subpart D – Conditions for TE Approval • [Sections retained in new 47CFR Part 68 • 68.300 and 68.316 through 68.318] • Sections to be in ANSI Part 68: • 68.302 through 68.314 • Retain the title of 68.316, 68.317 & 68.318… • add sentence to direct the user to the sections in the 47CFR Part 68 TR41.9-01-02-019

TR41.9-01-02-019

  15. Subpart E • Not retained in ANSI Part 68 • Rationale: Complaint procedures are being retained (and augmented) by the FCC in the CFR Part 68 TR41.9-01-02-019

Subpart F • Proposed to be retained in its entirety in ANSI Part 68 • Add a sentence to address plug & jack means of connection in subpart F (including alternative means, hard-wired, etc.) (refer to 68.104 in Subpart B) • Rationale: connectors’ dimensions are technical requirements, ATIS Report No. 5 does not contain the dimensions of the connectors TR41.9-01-02-019

  17. Timeline – as agreed in TR41.9.1 • Editorial group to finish first draft by Mar 16 • Circulation by email within the subgroup • Second draft to be circulated by Mar 26 • Conference call Mar 28 for consensus • Submission to TR41.9 • TR41.9 interim meeting for approval of document April 5 • TR41.9 Meeting Notice of Interim Meeting to be sent out by Mar 5 • Ballot period to end by May 5, allowing resolutions of comments at the next TR41.9 meeting • Goal  the sooner the better. Can timeline be shortened? TR41.9-01-02-019

  18. Approval of pre-ballot version- First Alternative • Follow essentially the timeline that the working group has agreed upon TR41.9-01-02-019

  19. Approval of pre-ballot version- Second Alternative • Approve today each Subpart separately in principle • Rationale: no substantive changes to content of document, the only need is to agree on what to retain • Note: this was approved by TR41.9 on Feb 21, 2001 • Editorial group to finish the final draft of the pre-ballot version • Review of the pre-ballot version via email by entire TR41.9 committee • Resolve comments via email and a conference call • Send the final draft out for ballot TR41.9-01-02-019
