Debrief Log 16 Punnett Squares!
Sexual Reproduction • A mode of reproduction involving the fusion of female gamete and male gamete which forms a zygote that potentially develops into genetically distinct offspring.
Fertiliztion • A process in sexual reproduction that involves the union of male and female gametes to produce and offspring.
Heredity • The passing of genetic factors from parent to offspring.
Dominant Trait • An inherited trait that results from the expression of the dominant allele over the recessive allele.
Recessive Trait • A genetic trait that results from the expression of two recessive alleles.
Question One RR • 1. Suppose that camellia with red flowers (RR) and a camellia with white flowers (rr) produce offspring. Fill in the following Punnett square with the correct two-letter codes for the offspring of this cross. rr

Question One Rr • Now suppose that two of the offspring from step 1 fertilize each other and make more offspring. Use the Punnett square to show the results of this cross. First fill in the correct two-letter codes for both parents. (Be sure to label which parent is which, as above.) Rr

Question Two • The gene for unattached earlobes, E, is dominant over the gene for attached earlobes, e. John has unattached earlobes, his father has unattached earlobes, and his mother has attached earlobes. Julie has attached earlobes, her father has attached earlobes, and her mother has unattached earlobes. Suppose John and Julie get married and have children. Draw a Punnett square that correctly predicts the probabilities of their children having unattached or attached earlobes. E e
