  2. Was born in Paris,France • has lived for four years in Lima • İnfluenced by Peru in his art • married a Danish woman, Mette-Sophie Gad • had five children

  3. Artistic career • was French Post-Impressionist artist and important figure in the Symbolist movement • In Tahiti, he painted "FatatateMiti" ("By the Sea"), "IaOrana Maria" (Ave Maria) and other depictions of Tahitian life.

  4. One of the most famous names of modern art • Wanted to paint feelings and dreams in his art

  5. In The Yellow Christ (1889), as a quintessential Cloisonnist work • After painted "Where Do We Come From" and then lived the rest of his life in the Marquesas Islands

  6. Died on 8 May 1903 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery (CimetièreCalvaire)
