  1. MyLibrary and a “NGC”, maybe Eric Lease Morgan University of Notre Dame emorgan@nd.edu

  2. MyLibrary 3.x is a “toolbox” with four major parts • Resources • Facet/term combinations • Librarians • Patrons

  3. MyLibrary creates relationships

  4. Example implementations • University Libraries of Notre Dame (subjects, formats, tools) • MyLibrary@Ockham • Catholic “Portal” • MyLibrary@Infomotions

  5. Expectations have changed • People expect to be able to do information work from their desks • People expect to get the full-text of their information, not just its metadata • People expect to be able to do things with the full-text, such as: download, email, annotate, review, etc.

  6. “Next generation” library catalogs will probably… • Be more of a finding aid • Include not just metadata, but the data itself, such as: full-text books, journal articles, pictures, data sets, etc. • Be as much about services applied against the data as the data itself

  7. MyLibrary as a part of a “NGC”

  8. The End Eric Lease Morgan University of Notre Dame emorgan@nd.edu
